Frequently asked questions.

Do I need my own horse to join these rides?

Yes, all rides are provided to clients who bring and ride their own horses. We do not keep or provide any horses for hire.

How do I book onto a group ride?

Bookings are made using a scheduling app which collects the information we require from you, handles payments securely via card or PayPal and emails you the details you will need. The interface is user friendly, even if you are not that keen on tech!

I have booked to join a guided ride, how do I know where the parking is?

At the time of booking a confirmation email will be automatically generated. This contains all the info for parking locations and charges and anything else ‘need to know’ for the ride you have chosen. Further info on parking, amenities and links to google maps are included on the Ride Routes page.

I can’t find my confirmation email, what should I do?

Some email providers incorrectly categorise emails from the booking app as spam. Please check that this hasn’t happened in the first instance. If the email isn’t there please contact us to check that your booking has gone through correctly.

What time does the ride set out?

Times advertised on the website or Facebook event are all ride set out times and this information is also included in your confirmation email. Please arrive at the location in time to tack up and be mounted for set out at the advertised time. Should you be unavoidably detained please get in touch with the organiser on the phone number supplied in the confirmation email to let them know you are on your way. We will always do our best to wait within reason but this may not always be possible, particularly in the case of a group ride.

How long will the ride take?

This will vary a bit dependent upon the terrain and the pace of those within the group. As a rough estimate allow 2 hours for a 6 mile route, 3 hours for a 10 mile route and 3.5 hours for a 12 mile route.

Do I have to pay for parking?

This depends upon the route, as we use a variety of locations some parking options are chargeable and some are free. Approximate cost (if any) and payment methods are advised in your confirmation email. This information is also available on the Ride Routes page.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the weather is merely inclement, i.e raining, then the ride will go ahead as normal. Please be sure to bring appropriate wet weather gear for yourself and your horse. Should weather conditions pose a risk to those travelling to, or taking part in the ride then a decision will be made by the organiser to either reschedule or cancel the ride. In this case those booked onto the ride will be notified as soon as is reasonably possible.

Should I wear Hi-Viz?

We recommend that all riders wear at least one item of hi-viz, even if the route chosen isn’t on the roads. This is what is suggested by the BHS, Emergency Services and RAF as it is far easier to locate a rider in hi-viz in the event of an accident and aircraft can also see us more easily to avoid us.

Are children allowed to join rides?

Yes, children are welcome on all our rides but must be accompanied on the ride by an adult.

Can my friend/partner/child come along on the ride on a bike/on foot?

With regret it is not possible to include cycles and pedestrians on group rides. This is due to the limited number of places available and the differences in pace between the horses and bikes/walkers. It is however possible to accomodate special requests like this in a private booking so please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Can I buy a Gift Voucher?

Yes, vouchers are available to the value of a group ride place and can also be used towards a private or 1:1 ride.
